Firefli is proud to announce that three of our recent website development projects have earned honors from this year’s W3 Awards.
About Our Awards
The first major web competition of its kind and now in its 16th year, the W3 Awards honors creative excellence on the web. The awards, which are sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, identifies award-winning websites, marketing programs, social content, mobile sites and apps, online video, and podcasts, and honors the best digital content creators across the industry who develop them.
On October 5, W3 announced 2021 award-winners after receiving, reviewing, and judging more than 3,000 entries to the competition across the globe.
Firefli was honored as a recipient of three Silver Awards for three of its recent website development projects:
U.S. Women, Peace, and Security Index
Category: Activism
Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security Index provides the most comprehensive measurement of women’s rights and opportunities in America, capturing how women’s rights and opportunities vary based on their race and how women’s legal protections vary by state.
We partnered with Georgetown to expand the index’s website to reflect new and important research, developing complex ADA-complaint data visualizations and graphics to ensure Georgetown’s vital data about women’s rights is findable, shareable, and approachable.
Great American Treasures
Category: Tourism
Great American Treasures is a collection of historic sites that tell stories of the country’s history from its earliest days. Great American Treasures give context and re-examines the history of who America is and how it came to be, through authentic storytelling rather than dates and timelines.
We partnered with The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America to design, develop, and market this new nationwide program, helping to translate information from more than 60 historical sites in a compelling and digestible way in order to drive tourism.
Each and every member of the Firefli team that we worked with made us feel like our project was their number one priority. And perhaps more importantly, they seemed to develop a passion for the project that matched our own. It was wonderful to find a team that saw and appreciated the bigger picture of what we were trying to accomplish.Project Manager, Great American Treasures
Torc
Category: Transportation
Torc Robotics creates autonomous vehicle solutions to lead the effort to safely put self-driving trucks on the road. The company’s innovative solutions are driven by the effort to create more efficient, safe, and accessible transportation.
A fellow Southwest Virginia company headquartered in Blacksburg, Virginia, Torc turned to us to oversee the design and development of a website that would effectively portray the revolutionary efforts Torc is driving forward in the transportation industry.
Our team at Firefli is drawn to and excited to collaborate with organizations that are encouraging fresh ways of thinking and problem-solving, and help them effectively and thoughtfully bring their efforts to life digitally.John Cornthwait, Partner and Vice President of Products at Firefli
Crafting A Useable Future
Our recognition by the W3 awards is a testament to what we as people in a digital world want to create for every user. In our work, we actively think of ways to better provide digital spaces that are accessible, useable, and enable all communities to have equal opportunities across the web.
Each of these projects represents a kind of disruption in our partners’ unique spaces, be it advocacy, historical storytelling, or technology — they are pushing us forward. Having our work honored at W3 means a lot to us because it means the passion we have for the work and its broader implications is evident.
At Firefli, we look forward to continuing to be an objective advocate for our client’s work, and for the people that we are fortunate to serve in our digital landscape.
